Han hadde vore i Danmark og fått utdanning som gartnar, og her på garden sette han opp drivhus og dreiv med tomater og agurk. Sidan sette han opp ein verkstad der han fyrst hadde treskofabrikk. I lag med eit par andre dreiv han så møbelfabrikk der to-tre år. Omlag 1952/53 selde han gardsbruket og flytta til Haugesund der han har vore bygartnar. Jakob gifta seg etter han flytta herifrå (sml nr 99.b).</ins></div></td></tr>
