Gata krysser [[Toftes gate (Oslo)|Toftes gate]] der denne møter [[Vogts gate (Oslo)|Vogts gate]], og er tilstøtende til [[Valdresgata (Oslo)|Valdresgata]]. Gata fikk navn i 1864 etter legatstifteren [[Johan Friedrich Biermann]] (1771-1852), som blant annet eide et rikholdig bibliotek og en verdifull myntsamling. Nr. 2: [[Sagene skole]].
