Dokumentarregissør, født 1978.<br />
Regissør Karen Winther gikk på National Film and Television School (NFTS) i England og TV-regi på Høyskolen i Lillehammer. Winthers eksamensfilm, The Betrayal, fikk mye oppmerksomhet. Det er en personlig film om hennes tid i norske ekstremistgrupper. I tenårene vanket hun både i høyre- og venstreekstreme miljøer i Oslo, og var en del av en voldelig, høyreekstrem bevegelse. Filmen hadde verdenspremiere ved IDFA og har mottatt flere priser.<br />
I hennes andre dokumentar, EXIT (2018), fortsatte Winther å utforske voldelig ekstremisme fra et personlig ståsted, og hvordan ekstremister kan endre sine holdninger. Denne dokumentaren består av intime samtaler med andre tidligere politiske og religiøse ekstremister fra Danmark, Tyskland, Frankrike og USA, hvor de forteller om øyeblikkene som gjorde at de bestemte seg for å forlate miljøene de var en del av. I EXIT forteller de tidligere ekstremistene om angeren og skammen som vil følge dem resten av livet.<br />
