Kongsvinger faglige samorganisasjon ble stiftet i 1959 under navnet Kongsvinger og omegn faglige samorganisasjon. Midt på 1960-tallet omtales foreningen som Kongsvinger faglige samorganisasjon. Navneendringen kom sannsynligvis som en følge av kommunesammenslåingen i 1964 da Vinger og Brandval ble innlemmet i den nye storkommunen Kongsvinger.</div>
