Foreldrene hennes var Bente Pedersdatter og Lars Olsen Berthing. I 1786 gifta hun seg med [[Skomaker]]mester [[Christen Svendsen Sentervold]] (f. 1760). Ekteparet hadde 12 barn sammen og flytta etterhvert over elva til [[Forstaden (Fredrikstad)|forstaden]]. Før 1805 flytta de tilbake til gamlebyen. Samtidig med henne virka også jordmor [[Martha Lytken]] i Fredrikstad.<br /> <br /> I 1816 fikk hun slag og ble lam i høyre side av kroppen.
