Hennes første jobb var på kortfilmen Herfra til Tøyen (1985) i regi av Kjersti Paulsen. Hun var klippeassistent på Pelle og Proffen-filmen Giftige løgner (1992). <br /> <br /> Idsøe debuterte som langfilmregissør med Jakten på nyresteinen (1996), som er basert på hennes egen barnebok fra 1994. Filmen handler om Simon som krymper seg selv til han blir liten nok til å reise inn i kroppen på bestefar for å fjerne en nyrestein. Jakten på nyresteinen ble godt mottatt av filmanmelderne, og ble den niende mest besøkte filmen på norske kinoer i 1996. Idsøe vant blant annet Amandakomitéens debutantpris og prisen for beste film ved Barnefilmfestivalen i Chicago. <br /> <br /> Idsøe var medforfatter på manuset til animasjonsfilmen Solan, Ludvig og Gurin med reverompa (1998), en eventyrkomedie og familiefilm regissert av John M. Jacobsen og Nille Tystad. Filmen bygger løselig på Kjell Aukrusts bok Gurin med reverompa (1991) og regnes som Norges første helaftens tegnefilm. Idsøe skrev også en bok om hvordan filmen ble til. Solan, Ludvig og Gurin med reverompa ble en stor publikumssuksess, med over 700 000 solgte billetter da den gikk på norske kinoer. <br /> <br /> Idsøe regisserte tegnefilmen Karlsson på taket (2001), etter eget manus basert på Astrid Lindgrens fortelling og med et mål om å bevare det særegne ved Astrid Lindgrens univers.
