Den store fabrikkbrannen i 1919 ødela svært mye for bedriften, ikke minst fordi det meste av arkivene gikk opp i røyk. Dette ga store vansker for driften, men det medførte også at vi i ettertid har hatt lite skriftlig materiale å bygge på. | |||
Heldigvis finnes det hjelp å få. Til vår store glede, og overraskelse, er det fra Nederland vi har fått noe av den best hjelpen. En nederlandsk ingeniør ved navn Johan Doornenbal har lagt et stort arbeid i fremfinning og registrering av stoff rundt Strømmenhusene som ble levert til Nederland og landene rundt. Since 1996, Johan Doornenbal has been doing research on history and origine of Norwegian wooden prefab buildings in the Netherlands. Johan graduated as a construction engineer on the subject of this kind of buildings, with a special focus on houses designed and distributed by the Strömmen Traevarefabrik. After his graduatation, he never stopped searching – instead, he enlarged his research area to Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom. Through the years, Johan has detected several Norwegian wooden prefab buildings, especially those from Strömmen Traevarefabrik. In addition to gathering a lot of information about the Strømmenhouses that were delivered to the Netherlands and surrounding countries, he has found information about the 29 Strømmenhouses that have been protected by the Dutch government, and declared a "rijksmonument". | |||
