My Dear Friend: The added copy of your
issue of the 15th I have received. As soon
as I had read your memorial notice of
Mrs. Ballou at the time of its appearing
last week it was clear to me that con-
siderable passages that occur in it
would be my choice to incorporate in
a brief printed letter which I design
to mail. I am taking it for granted
that you do not veto such use of your
article. Its source would be given.
For all your many favors of the past.
and of this present time, I yield to you
all gratitude.
Mrs Ballou never failed to follow
with deepest interest your defense of Wilson,
the League, your part in the maal-strid and
iimmigration regulations, and for your reviews
of musical life as well. To the thanks which
I know she felt I sincerely join mine. She
knew in you an unfailing friend
