Oslo, March 3, 1927. Mr. Carl G. O. Hansen,

Mr. Carl G. O. Hansen,

Editor, MINNEAPOLIS TIDENDE,

Minneapolis, Minn. Dear friend Hansen:

Dear friend Hansen:

I enclose, for your information, a copy of

HAUGESUNDS AVIS of the third ultimo containing a report

of a speech delivered by Mrs. Signe Lund. Shortly after

her return to Norway last fall Mrs. Lund delivered a

similar speech at Oslo in which among other things she

spoke insultingly of the American Legion. One of the

honorary fellows of the Scandinavian-American Foundation,

a Mrs. A. F. Woodside, of Winchester, Massachusetts, com-

plained to me of the many offensive and unfounded state-

ments made about the United States. I am not bringing

this matter to your attention for the purpose of publi-

cation but owing to your position as Editor-in-Chief of

TIDENDE I feel that you should be informed on the sub-

ject. Kindly return the enclosed paper to me when it has

served its purpose. I had a wonderful trip through England, France,

Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Germany, last August and

September,

September, visiting many interesting and beautiful places.

Both historically and scenically it was possibly the most

wonderful trip I have ever made. You will get some idea of

it when I tell you that my itinerary included Lincoln with

its superb cathedral, Canterbury, Cambridge, Eton College,

Windsor, Runnymede, the Dickens country in Kent and Surrey,

Paris and Versailles, Zurich, Innsbruck, Miran, the Dolo-

mites between Bozen and Cortina, Gastein, Salzburg, the

romantic Berchtesgaden, Munich, the famous castles in the

Upper Bavarian Alps, Nuremberg, Rothenburg, Heidelberg,

Eisenach with its historic and picturesque Wartburg, and

the surrounding Thüringer Wald, the classic Weimar, the

battlefields of Lützen and Leipzig, and finally Berlin

and Potsdam. I have had an unusually busy season and am now

I have had an unusually busy season and am now

looking forward to a somewhat quieter spell with spring and

summer approaching. The Ringneses are well and inquire

about you whenever we meet. Kindly convey my best regards

to Mr. and Mr. Guldbrandsen. With cordial greetings to yourself and Mrs. Hansen,

I am, as ever. Faithfully yours,
