CARL KUMMEN

VICE CONSUL

ROYAL NOREGIAN VICE CONSULATE

WINNIPEG,

Jan. 18th, 1930.

CANADA.

Redaktør Carl G. O. Hansen,

/ Minneapolis Tidende,

Minneapolis, Minn.

My dear Mr. Hansen-

I wish to thank you most sincerely for your

recent letter; and on behalf of my wife and self, I also

want to express our appreciations for the kind wishes from

Mrs. Hansen and yourself.

While I naturally am very glad to hear from

you, it grieves me to learn of your misfortune, in having

sustained an injury to your body. I sincerely hope and

trust that you will soon recover completely, with the good

care that we know you will receive at Home.

Your critic of my brother's manuscript is

very much in line with the opinion that I expressed to

the author last winter; only your judgment is so much

more to the point and set out with such clear logic and

sympathetic candor. He is quite a dreamer, and lives

in the atmosphere of his writings. His style and

expressions are lofty, and some of the "Føljetoner" that

he has written for papers in Norway, has received favor¬

able comments; but on the whole, the average readers do

not fathom or appreciate the art, as examplified in a

work like "Villenen".

I wish to thank you very much for taking the

time to read the manuscript and give me your unbiased critic.

I shall convey this to the author. He is quite young as yet;

and has quite an ambition for writing, and will probably succeed

in some measure.

Note from the columns of the Tidende, that the

Boys in your City are preparing for quite a celebration next

Our City will or expect to be represented.

ticularly the Glee Club are working hard to get ready - 100

strong, if it can be done.

You will undoubtedly make

a success of it, with the material you have down there.

With the kindest regards to Mrs. Hansen, ourself

and your Associates, from my wife, and,
