Helden, Vaage Aug. 16th 1876.
Dear Brother Theodore
I received yesterday
your very welcome letter of 21st
of July with draft for 178,58 Kroner.
I thank you very much and
such an amount just now,
as I am placed, I need
nok assure you, reveives a
most hearty celcome. Agen mig
der Theodor, I thank you very
much
I spent fly at Sæters, but
such a miserable July I never
experienced before. The weather
was so cold and the wind so
piericng and continseous that
I was compelled nearly the
whole time to remain inside
the house and did not once
get opportunity to fish in
lakes that were in a short
distance off. I was besides
worse en health while I
remained there, caughed much
and my stomach refused
nearly to receive food.
Since I returned, I have
felt much hetter, caughed
less, my stormaet hos hen
better and I have improved much
generally. The weather now
in Vaage is very hot, yet
nothing like August when it
is on its best in New York
I long Exceedingly for the
time to come when I can
go to visit you. We mighet
live plesantlig gren af de
måde over moren en differ
branches. Remember that you
get a girl with money
Theodor, if you over think
of marrying. Money is a
poser overytere. How I should
pity August if he got a
gir without money. Ahead
wouls then be nothing
bet å dire struggle
for bread and butter from
day to day.
Father er travelling om Sessioner
and at vi quite likely that
te makes å trip to de us
ofter hes throngt mit thi
busine thi 26de inst, at Molde
Jenny and Peter intend to
spend vinter at Christiania
they having recuved invitation
to live vil Bruns-Pastor - at
Bodsfængslet. Caroline and
I skall probaby for thi
sake of the Climate have
to remain all winter in
Vaage, which I do not
think would be too pleasant
Oh, how I long for America
again. It is very dull in Norway.
I thank you for the Newspaper
that you send me; they are
entertaining, and I kill many
an idle hour reading them.
trom August it is some time
since I heard, but I hope
he is well and has enough
of business. August is a hard
worker end ought to do well.
The Custer slaughter is
fearful! How little Credit
et reflects om the govern-.
ment! - How is your politics
dear Theodor? I think Hayes
a far better Candidatr than
Tilden, whom I believe to be
av old hypocrite in spite
af all his cry af reform
Please write me often as
heretofore. Your letters are
always welcome.
Your affectionate
Thorvald
